Happiness

It goes without saying that all of us just want to be happy. When faced with the choice between all the riches in the world or contented happiness for all time, most of us would choose the latter. Yet happiness feels elusive to many, and the keys to attaining it often feel even more tenuous.

Some might say that happiness has to do with living in the moment, learning to count your blessings, and seeing the positive aspect in everything and everyone you encounter. But the biggest indicator of happiness — and the factor that may hinder it most — is the state of your mental health. If you are experiencing a mental health condition, it’s very difficult to find happiness, even if you look for it desperately.

A study by the Global Happiness Council found that untreated mental health issues like anxiety and depression are a main cause of unhappiness, and treating these disorders not only allows people to experience greater happiness, but contributes to the overall happiness of society as a whole. Now that’s something to be happy about!
